The (oh-drah-dek) was created by Lori Rubeling and manufactured by Rubeling & Kain Studios.

Inspired by Franz Kafka's "Cares of a Family Man" , the (oh-drah-dek) had its first incarnation at the 1985 Venice Biennale. The Palmanova Project, a Cranbrook Archtiecture Studio submission, under the direction of Daniel Libeskind, won the Stone Lion Prize - the Biennale's highest honor.

In 1993, (oh-drah-dek) was produced by Ms. Rubeling for her series " About Flatland." The City of Detroit commissioned four large-scale versions of (oh-drah-dek).

Since 1996, Rubeling & Kain Studios has been producing this sculpture of intimate scale and classic style.

In Kafka's story, Odradek is found at the foot of the stair, behind the door, and in the garret of the Family Man's home. Is there a place for (oh-drah-dek) in your world?
